PARENTAL COACHING FOR PARENTS OF TEENS
OR
HOW DO I GET THEM SAFELY GROWN WITHOUT KILLING THEM OR MYSELF?
In my many years of experience, I have met many parents who felt their greatest life stress in tying
to help a teen with a drug or behavior problem. There are so many sources of advice and help
with much of it contradictory or ill-suited for your parenting style. Many parents face hurdles of
distance or resources in trying to decide what to do. Finally, a wise parent is skeptical of some
sources of help who make their living by enrolling a teen in a costly residential program.
What I offer is a neutral sounding board, a thirty-
year history of making decisions about teens and a
belief in the wisdom of parents about their children.
In addition to my private practice, I have extensive
experience running and working in facilities and
programs for teens who have drug and other
problems. I many years of personal knowledge
of the various support groups as well the scientific
perspective of a psychologist in evaluating the
best approaches.
Parents are often confused about how to handle problems that can be terrifying and then
mundane again in no time. My aim is to ensure that more parents obtain both practical, unbiased
suggestions as well as timely direction on stress management, marital preservation and the
development of new patterns for dealing with these disruptive behaviors. In order to respond in a
timely effective way, these services must be delivered in a real time, often more than once a week
during a crisis. Therefore, services may be obtained through phone or e-mail.
